Hello, my name is sarah

I specialize in food illustration. I discovered it while I was a student at Rhode Island School of Design. Illustrating food is easier than drawing live models - and there is the added benefit of getting to eat it when you are done (a definite plus for an art student). I especially enjoy drawing fresh fruit and veggies but my favorite comfort food is a poppyseed muffin and cup of hot chai tea. Ironically, I am good at drawing food but not very good at cooking it.

My primary style is digital collage (it is much less sticky than traditional collage). I paint or scribble bright textures then scan them and digitally cut them apart to create my illustrations. My tools of the trade are color, texture, and the imperfection of a wonky, hand-drawn line.

I live in Rochester, NY with my family and three helpful cats who love Zoom meetings. Schedule a meeting, I am sure they would love to talk to you.
